We are experiencing a high demand on the service at present, this is causing a longer than average wait time for applications to be registered and assessed, additionally the current housing crisis is having a significant impact on the wait time for applicants to secure a suitable home. We are doing everything we can to help our customers, especially those with a priority need. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
Northumberland County Council recently reviewed and updated the Common Allocation Policy, which was approved by Cabinet members in December. The revised policy introduces significant changes to the qualifying criteria for the Housing Register, including local connection, home ownership, financial resources and those with no identified housing need.
Following this approval, the Homefinder Team has begun implementing these changes and must now assess all housing applications in line with the updated policy. As a result, a large number of applicants may be affected and could no longer qualify for the Homefinder scheme. This review process will take time and will be carried out in stages.
